Programme in Remote Meghalaya Village by NSS Cell, USTM

The NSS Cell, School of Biological Sciences, USTM organized a Child Development
Programme (CDP) in a remote village of Meghalaya – Jorbill in Ri Bhoi district.
It was a daylong programme with many activities organized for the 106 children
of 4 schools from the three participating villages. The venue for the CDP was
Jorbill Field, Jorbill, Kling, Baridua, Meghalaya.
Dr. Gayatree Goswami (Professor), Department of Education, GU; Dr. Babli
Choudhury (Assistant Professor), Department of Education, GU and Mondalica
Chaliha, Lead curator, Discovery Kids Science Adds, North East Region were the
invited speakers for the day. The Village Headman of Jorbill and the
Headmistresses of the participating schools had also attended the CDP.
Amongst the various activities planned for the children were Rhyme Recitation,
Drawing, Singing and Dancing Competitions. The winners of the various

The Programme Officer of the CDP was Sony Kumari, Assistant Professor Department
of Biotechnology and the student coordinators were Hamidur R. Bhuyan, Aditya Das
and Jyotishma Borkakati.
