Interactive Talk on Financial Inclusion and Development at USTM

May 9, 2015 : Coinciding with the launch of
Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima
Yojana (PMJJBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY), the School of Business Sciences (SBUS)
of University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) conducted an interactive
session on “Financial Inclusion and Development” at its conference hall on 9th
May, 2015.
The said interactive session had presentation
and interaction by Mr. Pintun Sutar, Deputy General Manager of Reserve Bank of
India (Department of Financial Inclusion and Development). Mr. Sutar dealt at
length about the details of Financial Inclusion and Development, and the
importance of the schemes launched recently by Government of India. Students and
faculties belonging to department of Business Administration, Economics,
Commerce, Sociology, Social Works, Rural development and Public Administration
actively participated in the discussion and interacted about minor details from
the viewpoint of conducting extension activities inclusive of awareness drive,
sensitization program, hand holding etc. in nearby villages. The Department of
Economics and Commerce under SBUS, USTM is conducting an extension program in
villages nearby the campus at 9th mile, Kling Road, Baridua, Ri-Bhoi
District of Meghalaya. To this Mr. Sutar gave details about the information to
be conveyed to the villagers and that each Bank is assigned with
responsibilities of financial inclusion and development of villages nearby it.
