 The
School of Engineering and Technology (SOET) envisages ushering a new era of
technical education in the North Eastern part of India and proposes to introduce
several courses and programmes. Effective linkages with industry as well as
developmental agencies will be established from time to time and accordingly a
number of short term vocational/ occupational courses will be introduced in
order to impart skill based training to the educated unemployed youths.
Department of Computer Science & Electronics
Academic Focus:
The main aim of the Deptt. of
Computer Science is to meet the growing demand for qualified professionals in
the field of Information Technology. This programme is inclined more toward
Application Development and thus has more emphasis on latest programming
language and tools to develop better and faster applications. It focuses on
providing a sound theoretical background as well as good practical exposure to
students in levant areas. In addition it covers various aspects of computational
theory, programming, algorithm design and optimization, network and database
management, mobile technologies, electronics, mathematics, probability,
statistics, accounting, finance, etc. As the IT and the software industry are
dynamic and fast growing, all the programmes are designed keeping in view the
requirements of industry.
Electronics subject is primarily the study of electronic components and circuits
that are used in computers, mobile phones and other modern instruments for
better control and performance.
Career Scope:
Students graduating from Deptt.
of Computer Science pursuing MCA or MSc Computer Science begin their career as
junior programmers and grow at a very fast pace to become systems analysts and
project leaders. Since the course is also designed towards the research side,
some students pursue higher studies too. Job areas include banking, stock
exchange, simulation, database management, e-commerce, networking, etc. Students
after BCA can opt for post graduate course of MCA or even they can try for job
opportunities. The BCA provides an understanding and skills related to the use
of computer and its application.
The students passing with B.Sc Electronics may get jobs in various companies and
can take admission in higher education like M.Sc Electronics. The students
passing with M.Sc Electronics may get jobs as a technical officer in Indian
Navy, Air Force, Railway, Army, BSNL, Ericson; IES, DCIO; Teaching and for
higher education like M.Tech, Ph.D etc.
